Mid-Week 10

This week the baby is about the size of a prune, nearly 1 1/2 inches long. Small indentions in the legs are working to form knees and ankles. The elbows are already working, and tiny buds of baby teeth are forming under the gums. The stomach is producing digestive juices and the kidneys are producing urine- hard to believe all of that is going on in something the size of a prune!!
Thankfully I still have not experienced any sickness- although I have come close a few times at the smell of a few puppy "accidents" which has never bothered me to that extent before! I've noticed a change in the way some foods taste.....mushrooms, which I have always loved, have a very dirty taste now...where as any kind of fruit tastes ten times better than they ever have before! I will get Jason to start taking pictures of my belly next week....hopefully by then I will be past the "beer belly" appearance as I like to call it. If anyone has any good clothes places they could recommend please let me know! I'm having a hard time finding places that have good selection at decent prices.
We had a bit of dog drama this week- poor Coach (our newest puppy) has had some trouble getting sick to his stomach at all hours of the night. The vet thought he might have something stuck in his tummy that wouldn't pass. Turns out the lining of his stomach is really inflammed and his is borderline diabetic! Isn't that sad? He got some more medicine and they gave him some prescription dog food to eat until things calm down. Poor little guy- he and Layla have really been enjoying playing with each other. This is a picture of them in their sweaters earlier in the week when it got really cold. I thought it was a cute one :)

Today we had our first sonogram, which went very well! The baby had a very strong heartbeat, and we found out that our due date is September 25th.
After the appointment we went to the mall and Jason bought me my first pair of maternity pants. I was so surprised at how comfy they are! It was much easier to find the pair I loved in maternity than in normal pants!
I will be 8 weeks tomorrow, and for the most part I have felt very well. I have noticed that I run out of energy quickly, especially around meal times. Still no morning sickness (thank goodness) and the sinus infection I have been battling seems to be finally starting to go away. This week the baby is the size of a rasberry and facial features and limbs are starting to take shape. I am definately noticing the 'thickening waist' although I still haven't gained any weight (not that I am complaining there!). I haven't been able to button my real pants for the past week, and several of my shirts have been pushed to the 'too tight' side of the closet.
